Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session – Objective

There is a need to do a Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session in the first 4-6 weeks of practice.

Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session‘s focus is to keep working on our general conditioning and fitness.
This session we add short sprints and change of direction, with and without the soccer ball.

Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session – Details and Stages

The Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session WARM UP (7 min) consists of 5 minute light jog. This is to give players time to talk and to get to know each other. The 5 minute cycle for jogging is done at an easy pace. It is followed by 2 minutes of stretching.

In Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session Stage I (15-20 minutes), the group is split into 2 smaller groups, consisting of 6-8 players in each group.
Group I will play 1 touch Rondo. Group II will be performing core exercise and abs for 7 minutes total.
Alternatively, both groups switch activities.

During Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session Stage II (15-20 minutes), we implement the ball.
We have 2 or 4 starting positions, depending on the number of players. The first drill is without the ball. Agility and Coordination, with quick reaction time upon the coach’s call “left” or “right”, or the coach can use color cones. A progression to this drill is to implement the ball for dribbling and ball manipulation in middle, to make it competitive. Then both players will attack the same goal with or without the ball.

During Technical Speed Acceleration Pre Season Soccer Session Stage III (15-20 minutes), we make it competitive by playing small sided games 2v2 or 3v3 to small goals.
The focus here is to accelerate and burst into space with or without the ball in order to create scoring opportunities.

To finish on a positive note in this Stage IV (15-25 minutes), we play a full game with all players involved.
